Officiating & rules

Matches follow standard padel rules and scoring unless modified by the Organiser. Players are expected to maintain honesty and sportsmanship throughout.

0153040Golden
point

No advantage. At deuce, the next point wins the game.

  1. 01A coin toss decides who serves first or picks a side.
  2. 02The first team to win 6 games wins the set. At 5–5, one final deciding game wins it.
  3. 03Umpires, linesmen and scorekeepers are on hand, but players keep score and call their own faults honestly.
  4. 04The umpire's decision on any scoring or gameplay dispute is final. Prolonged disputes mean immediate forfeiture.
  5. 05Only registered players and substitutes may represent a community.
  6. 06Substitutions only before a match starts, within the same category. A player substituted out can't return for the rest of the tournament.
  7. 07The Organiser may adjust gameplay, schedule, venue or format without prior notice.

6–0

Any other forfeit

Walkovers and disqualifications: the opposing team wins 6–0.

A team with an injured player and no eligible substitute is disqualified from that match.

You may be disqualified or forfeit for

  • ×False registration details or identity
  • ×Misrepresenting your skill level (including qualifiers)
  • ×Unauthorised substitutions or fielding unregistered players
  • ×Withdrawing from a match or tournament (walkover)

The official Volvo Padel Open 2026 t-shirt, front and back

You'll receive two in your sports kit. Players who don't wear it may be disqualified from the match and/or the tournament.

  • The official tournament t-shirt for all matches. You'll receive two, so keep them fresh between games (no size changes after registration).
  • Comfortable sports bottoms, such as tennis shorts, skirts, or track pants.
  • Proper court or sports shoes. For your safety, slippers, sandals, open-toe footwear, and bare feet aren't allowed.
  • Your player wristband at all times. It tracks your team and category – don't remove or swap it.

  • Keep courts for players only. Supporters, please cheer from outside and leave player benches and refreshment zones clear.
  • Most importantly, enjoy yourself!

FAQs

Got questions? We've got answers.

Which venue am I playing at?+

It depends on your category and match day. Check the schedule in Mark Your Calendar, or your group on the leaderboard.

What time should I arrive?+

Registration opens at 8:00 AM, with the welcome and briefing at 8:30 AM. Be at the venue at least 30 minutes before your match. Both players must register at the info counter and be on court 5 minutes before start time, or forfeit the match.

Where and when do I collect my sports kit?+

Your Community Head collects all sports kits in person, with a valid ID, on 19 October 2026 at JDP 2, and will pass yours on to you.

Can I change my t-shirt size?+

Sorry, no size changes after registration.

Do I have to wear the official t-shirt?+

Yes, it's mandatory during all matches. Players without it may be disqualified.

Is there parking?+

Yes, but it's very limited at both venues. We recommend carpooling or e-hailing where possible.

Can my team use a substitute?+

Yes, as long as they're on your community's registered substitute list. Substitutions must be made before a match starts and within the same category. Substitutes must wear the official t-shirt and sign an indemnity form before stepping on court.

How are matches scored?+

Group-stage and quarter-final matches are one set; semi-finals and grand finals are best of three. Every deuce is settled by a Golden Point, and a set tied at 5–5 is decided by one final game.

Can friends and family watch my matches?+

Yes, but only players can be on court and in player-only zones.

Is food available?+

Yes. Food and drinks are available for purchase on site, including set meals from Joy Division Padel, Ungu bowls and (Saturday only) Popsi fruit popsicles.

What happens if I miss my match?+

You'll forfeit and the win goes to your opponent.

What if I feel unwell or get injured before a match?+

Let the organiser or umpire know immediately. Your safety comes first.

Can I get disqualified?+

Yes, for bad behaviour, cheating, false registration details or unsportsmanlike conduct.

I have more questions. Who do I contact?+

Reach out to your Community Head first, or message us on WhatsApp at +6019 901 1943.
